Projects

Bright Africa Foundation projects are foundational to transforming our families in Rwanda. Providing critical skills to self-generate income for the families.

BAF Administration 2027

$460.00 Raised 3%
Behind every successful graduate from our hair, welding, and tailoring schools is a strong administrative infrastructure that keeps the BAF mission moving forward. When you support the Bright Africa Foundation’s administrative costs, your investment directly funds the essential foundations of our organization: keeping the lights on in our buildings, repairing and maintaining our training facilities, and covering transportation to bring supplies to the remote villages of Sata and Cyiri. Crucially, it also allows us to provide fair, stable salaries for our dedicated Rwandan staff, laborers, and security, who serve as the heartbeat of our programs. Funding these operational realities ensures our buildings remain safe, reliable, and deeply rooted in the communities we serve, allowing the most dollars of our child sponsorship program go directly to the children. The financial goals for 2026 were met through an unexpected blessing from a wonderful donor. We took their suggestion to start raising the critical amount needed for 2027 now.

BAF Hair School

$70.00 Raised 35%
At the Bright Africa Foundation Hair School, we empower aspiring entrepreneurs in our local villages with the professional skills to master hair styling and sustainable hair maintenance in the Rwandan environment. By turning a traditional craft into a viable trade, our hands-on training program provides students, particularly young women, with the technical expertise and business basics needed to launch their own local salons or work for salons in the city of Butare. Through affordable, accessible education, we aren't just teaching haircare; we are fostering financial independence, boosting community confidence, and building thriving local economies from the roots up. The very first Spring 2026 class is underway. The classes cost $200 over the course of six months. That supplies the materials, hair products, and printed books to teach this course. Your donations will help provide hope and encouragement for these young women to provide an income for their families.

BAF Sewing School

$160.00 Raised 27%
The Bright Africa Foundation Sewing and Tailoring School weaves creativity with commerce, providing a comprehensive training ground for aspiring Sata, Taba, and Cyiri women and young ladies who are not attending school. Our 6-month program takes students from basic stitch mechanics to advanced garment design, fabric sourcing, and business management. By equipping local talent with the tools to design, alter, and repair clothing, we are transforming a daily necessity into an engine for self-reliance. Graduates leave ready to open independent tailor shops, supply local markets, and clothe their communities, stitching together a path toward sustainable livelihoods and vibrant local economies. The Fall 2025 Class had 12 amazing graduates. The Spring 2026 class is underway but still needs more funding for graduate project materials. It takes only $600 for 12 students to complete the 6-month course.   We currently own 4 sewing machines shared amongst all 12 students. If you feel it on your heart to donate for another sewing manual foot-operated machine, they are $200. We are praying for a total of 6 machines so the students can work in pairs in the upcoming classes.

BAF Welding School

$125.00 Raised 13%
The Bright Africa Foundation Welding School offers a rigorous, six-month certification program designed to spark economic independence for youth in Sata and Cyiri villages. Through intensive, hands-on training, students master essential metalworking techniques, structural welding, and safety protocols required for modern welding projects. By compressing industry-standard training into a focused half-year curriculum, we quickly equip graduates with a highly sought-after trade. This certification bridges the gap between raw talent and steady employment, empowering young men and women to build essential local infrastructure, launch fabrication businesses, and forge a stronger future for their villages. The Fall 2025 class was a smashing success with 12 certified graduates entering the labor market. The Spring 2026 class is underway and is just short of reaching its funding goals. The $600 costs go towards materials, books, and safety equipment.  We are praying for another stick welding machine ($200) so we can divide the class into two groups. We would also like to add a MIG/TIG ($400) welder to our curriculum this fall.

Empowering communities through impactful programs, our nonprofit is dedicated to creating lasting positive change for those in need.
