Driven by a deep, Bible-centered commitment to care for vulnerable communities, Jim and Dacia Rutske lead the Bright Africa Foundation with passionate dedication to serving the children and families of Rwanda. Operating as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit out of the state of Montana, the Foundation works directly with our staff on the ground within local villages like Sata, Taba, and Cyiri to break the cycle of poverty and offer hope for a brighter future.
Through an impactful child sponsorship program, Jim and Dacia ensure that our kids receive essential school supplies, daily meals, medical care, Saturday Bible classes with continuous spiritual mentorship. Simultaneously, the foundation fosters long-term community self-sustainability by running localized trade schools, including tailored programs in welding, sewing, and haircare, that equip youth and women with the technical expertise and business fundamentals needed to achieve financial independence.
Together, their hands-on leadership and holistic approach are actively spreading the gospel, transforming lives, building thriving local economies, and strengthening the foundational future of Rwandan families.

We believe true transformation only happens when you are willing to get your boots on the ground and immerse yourself directly in the daily realities of the people you serve. We believe that sustainable change cannot be managed from a distance; it requires walking the dirt roads of Sata, Taba, and Cyiri, sitting in the homes of Rwandan families, and listening firsthand to their struggles and dreams. Jim & Dacia, along with other volunteers, travel to Rwanda throughout the year.
Working in the villages allows us to see past statistics and connect with the unique, individual story of every child and parent entering the foundation's programs. By sharing in their daily lives, we ensure that Bright Africa’s initiatives, from immediate nutritional support to long-term vocational training, are deeply relevant, culturally respectful, and delivered with the precise, hands-on care that only comes from being present right beside them.
Looking toward the horizon, the Bright Africa Foundation is anchored by a bold vision to expand its impact through a permanent, multi-purpose children’s school that will serve as a cornerstone of learning and community development for the villages.
This dedicated space will not only provide our children with a stable, high-quality academic environment but will also host an array of life-enhancing programs designed to uplift entire generations. Alongside traditional education, Jim and Dacia plan to integrate expanded vocational tracks, comprehensive health and wellness initiatives, and modern technical literacy training.
By building this physical and educational anchor, the Foundation is committing to a sustainable legacy, ensuring that the families of Sata, Taba, Cyiri, and beyond have the permanent infrastructure, resources, and continuous support necessary to break cycles of poverty and thrive independently for decades to come.
We want Bright Africa Foundation to be a victory story that is shared and copied across the country!
